A STUDY ON THE CHILDREN¢¥S DENTAL CARIES OF PERMANENT TEETH IN RURAL AREA

Abstract
Dental caries is prevalent on schoolchildren in rural area. However, only a few various teeth are treated due to the shortage of dental clinics in rural area. So the community prevention program of dental caries is urgent especially in rural area. For the development of community preventive program of dental caries, he detailed analysis of dental caries status should be preceded.
The author analyzed the status of dental caries in rural children. 1, 310 children from 6 to 11 year-olds in Jorimyon, Pajugun-county, Kyunggido-province were surveyed. The obtained results were as follows:
. DMF rates of 6 to 11 year-olds were calculated as 36.48% to 82.05%, DMFT index as 0.72 to 3.02, DMFS index as 1.02 to 5.14.
93.39% to 99.03% of children¢¥s DMFS index occurred on pits and fissures of occlusal and buccolingual surfaces, and 0.97% to 4.31% of children¢¥s DMFS index occurred on smooth surfaces of proximal surfaces.
81.25% to 99.03% of total DMFS index occurred on the upper and lower first molars, and 0.24% to 9.91% of total DMFS index occurred on the upper and lower second molars.
1. The upper and lower first and second molars were considered as the prime teeth for the application of fissure sealants in the community. preventive programme of dental caries at rural area.
). The oral hygienists of health centers and health subcenters should be responsible for the fissure sealant programme to prevent dental caries of schoolchildren in rural area.
